Polygon Labs Acquires Coinme and Sequence in $250M Stablecoin Payments Expansion
Polygon Labs has secured definitive agreements to purchase crypto payment platform Coinme and wallet infrastructure provider Sequence in a deal exceeding $250 million. The acquisitions aim to bolster stablecoin-based payments and enhance on-chain monetary flows across Polygon's ecosystem.
The transactions will integrate three critical elements into Polygon's Open Money Stack: regulated fiat gateways, enterprise-grade wallet solutions, and cross-chain orchestration capabilities. This framework is engineered to facilitate large-scale stablecoin settlements while streamlining developer processes.
Coinme and Sequence collectively processed over $1 billion in off-chain transactions and facilitated $2 trillion in on-chain transfers. Polygon anticipates increased network throughput from heightened payment activity, potentially generating additional fee revenue for validators and stakers.
The MOVE comes as stablecoins gain momentum in global payments, with regulatory clarity around compliant models remaining a key industry focus. Coinme's established licensing footprint since its 2014 founding positions Polygon to merge regulated fiat access with efficient blockchain settlement.
